Amaran. This film evokes the same feeling as its title. The sacrifice is that. Siva Karthikeyan’s emotive realistic biography is distinct from his earlier works. Siva Karthikeyan makes a great effort to convey freshness in both his appearance and his actions in this film. The film’s strong point is Siva Karthikeyan’s portrayal of an army officer and major. Additionally impressive are the chemistry and romantic sequences with Sai Pallavi.

The director Rajkumar Periyaswamy did a great job with the basic plot, the treatment, and a few poignant moments. Sai Pallavi and Siva Karthikeyan’s poignant moments stand out in particular. Sai Pallavi’s performance was impressive. In this role, she received another good role. Rahul Bose, Lallu, Sreekumar, and Bhuvan Arora-C all performed their roles to the best of their abilities. The remaining actors performed their parts admirably as well.

Feelings between ‘Army personnel and their families’ are thoughtfully depicted in this ‘Amaran’ story. The music of GV Prakash Kumar is equally remarkable. The climax was expertly crafted by the filmmaker as well. Overall, in addition to positive feelings, the filmmaker did a great job creating the army’s history and each of its characters.

Even though ‘Amaran’ is a deeply emotional drama, there are a few dull sequences in the early half. In actuality, despite the excellent cinematography of the key actors and the primary plot, the story progresses slowly in one or two moments. A more engaging opening sequence for the second half would have been preferable.

Conclusion

The acting of Shiva Karthikeyan, the army backdrop sequences, the patriotic and familial primary plot, the action scenes, and the Taluk emotions of Shiva Karthikeyan and Sai Pallavi are all excellent in this biographical emotional drama called “Amaran.” Additionally, the conclusion is really striking. Some scenes, though, were typical. The audience finds this film to be highly outstanding overall.

Story :

Amaran is told through the eyes of Indhu(Sai Pallavi) the wife of Major Mukund played by Siva Karthikeyan. The film showcases how Indu met Mukund, fell in love, went against her parents, and married the brave army man. The film showcases how Mukund grows up the ranks in the Indian army and finally loses his life while gunning the deadly terrorists in Kashmir.

Plus Points :

One of the biggest assets of Amaran is that it is told through the eyes of Sai Pallavi which makes things quite interesting. The way Sai Pallavi narrates the film and then the scene shifts back to various flashbacks and showcases the valor of the brave soldier is the best part of the film. The emotional turmoil that the families of the Indian army go through is showcased superbly.

Siva Karthikeyan gets a solid role to portray and he does so well as Major Mukundan. Be it his newly attained fit body or the way he handles the troops, Siva Karthikeyan suits the character solidly. But it is Sai Pallavi who steals the show with her emotional performance. She as the army man’s wife showcases so much valor and dignity.

The scenes that showcase Sai Pallavi’s performance when her husband passes away will bring tears to your eyes. She is the backbone of the film and has given an award-winning performance. Without her Amaran is incomplete and Sai Pallavi makes heads turn with her act. The rest of the supporting cast including Rahul Dev and others do well.

Minus Points :

Films made on the Indian army are dime and zone. So, plot-wise, there is nothing new in the film. The plot has the basic story of a man who wants to become a soldier in the Indian army, fighting, the terrorists and finally sacrificing his life for the country is nothing new and is shown predictably in Amaran as well.

Also, one gets a feeling that the terrorist activities, and the leaders who are playing spoilsport in India, all these aspects should have been showcased in a more detailed manner. The initial portions of the film are a bit boring. One also gets a feeling that the action sequences are dragged for no reason.

Technical Aspects :

A lot of money has been spent on the action episode and it looks decent. More intense action would have made a world of good. The camerawork showcasing the Kashmir valley and how the terrorists operate is showcased well. The Telugu dubbing is good and so are the dialogues. Those written for Sai Pallavi are top-notch. The film needs editing for close to ten minutes in the first half as a few scenes get dragged for no reason.

Coming to the director Rajkumar Periaswamy, he has done a decent job with Amaran. The best part about his direction is that he narrates the film through the eyes of Sai Pallavi and this makes all the difference. The emotional turmoil that she goes through elevates the pain in the film in a big way.

Verdict :

On the whole, Amaran is a well-made action drama that is high on emotions. Sai Pallavi’s stellar act keeps you engaged right through the film. If you ignore the predictable storyline, Amaran makes for a decent watch this weekend.
